The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is the largest professional
accountancy body in Europe and its qualification, which allows its members to call themselves
Chartered Accountants and to use the designatory letters ACA or FCA, is recognised around

The HMRC web site gives access to their latest press releases, self assessment
information, leaflets, office locations, FAQs and advice. They are also
responsible for collecting and administering Customs and Excise duties and Value
Added Tax (VAT). The Department is also responsible for preventing and detecting
the evasion of revenue laws and for enforcing a range of prohibitions and
restrictions on the importation of certain classes of goods.
Companies House deals with the incorporation, re-registration and striking off of companies and the
registration of documents required to be filed under companies, insolvency and
related legislation together with the provision of company information to the public, for which
purpose they enforce compliance with statutory requirements.
